About Me
Hello everyone, my name is Parth and this is my first year on the McMaster Science Society. I am excited for my role on the team as the Grants and Funds director this year, and am looking forward to creating an improved application process for a smooth transition for students.
Although this is my first year on the MSS, I have been a sciclone - a welcome week executive for the faculty of science for the last two years. This past summer as a welcome week executive I collaborated with many other faculties to host exciting events for incoming first-year students.
I enjoy playing many sports including volleyball, basketball, soccer and probably any other sport you can think of, so if you see me at DBAC or intramurals, come say hi! My go-to study spot is the Health Sciences library and occasionally Mills.
Goals
1. Post a video on MacSci platforms, outlining how students can apply for SIF and SOG.
2. Increase outreach to science students through other McMaster Science Society events.
3. Update the SIF and SOG application information throughout the year to keep students aware of when they should be completing which steps.
Projects
1. Host a Meet & Greet type of event for the recipients of the SIF and SOG grants, with some food and potential presentations of projects.
2. Potentially incorporate an in-person aspect to the SIF and SOG application to create a more inclusive approach to all applicants.
3. Include a summarized blurb on the MSS website to explain what the SIF and SOG grants are
Reasons to Contact Me
1. My role on the team as the Grants and Funds director is to spread awareness of the various funds that are available to undergraduate science students, whether that be for academic research projects or personal projects. If you have any questions regarding is a specefic project or idea is eligible to receive funding from the MSS, please reach out to me!
2. I am also here to review the applications and give feedback to help students create strong applications to receive the various funds that are available. I am more than willing to take a look at your application, as well as answer specific application questions you may have.
3. Last, if you ever want to play ping pong at the Hub or go play volleyball, I am almost always down!
