  • Everyone has pre-existing beliefs that can affect how they interpret new information. My thesis examines how a person's attitudes on a topic are affected by information that either aligns or misaligns with the person's pre-existing biases and beliefs. Specifically, how (or if) a person's attitudes change when exposed to misaligning information. The project aims to examine if basic principles of learning and memory can be used to change a person's attitudes.

  • My responsibilities for this experiment are to help code the experiment, implement the data collection process, and analyze the data. After this experiment, we plan on running another follow-up experiment!

“Find professors with research interests that align with your own, and then introduce yourself to them! It can help to have a few conversations with them about their research as well. You will have much more success finding research opportunities with a professor that knows who you are, compared to a professor who has never spoken to you!”
