Sarah Lin
Hi! My name is Sarah and I’m in my second year of Chemical Biology. I’ve been tutoring since high school in which I practiced flexible teaching styles! During my first year, I organized various strategies for each course and shared them with my peers, which they found very helpful. I understand that university can be challenging and would love to help you achieve your goals with a positive learning experience! Outside of school, I enjoy thrifting, hiking, and baking. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want advice for university life:)

Preferred Teaching Style: I want to teach or tutor in a way that suits your learning style best! In general, I use diagrams, mindmaps and flowcharts to make complex concepts clearer or break them down into simpler pieces. Then, I would find practice questions so that we can apply that knowledge rather than purely memorizing. I would usually start by letting you show me what you already know. Then I will ask guiding questions that lead you step by step to the solution and list out the key concepts for that type of question. This approach is helpful to learn how to think through problems independently. Lastly, I always organize the questions that you struggle with at first or still feel confused so that we can list out steps or strategies for solving that type of question and focus more on that area to improve. I may also make you explain them yourself at the end since active recall is very useful. These steps are effective for any university courses and I'm flexible and happy to either review concepts or focus more on practice questions, depending on what you need!
